2. Real estate myth: purchasing a home necessitates a large sum of money

While it’s always a good idea to have some cash on hand in case of an emergency or for homebuying expenses, you don’t need a lot of cash to buy a house.  

A down payment of as little as 3.5 percent of the home’s purchase price is possible with an FHA loan. A down payment of 5-10% of the home’s buying price is often required for conventional mortgages.
